Job Description:
The 2026 Summer Internship program offers rising 2027 graduates the chance to immerse themselves in a mission-driven, innovative environment. This paid 10‑week program provides hands-on mentorship, meaningful project work that contributes to real company initiatives, and the potential for a full‑time job offer. Interns will build lasting relationships, broaden their networks, and gain insight into life at a fast-growing tech unicorn. Participants will also enjoy company-sponsored events and opportunities to explore a new city. Details about the accounting internship are below.

Over the course of the program, the Accounting Intern will assist the finance team with key initiatives such as system implementations, account reconciliations, and process documentation. They will gain exposure to monthly close activities, audit preparation, and financial reporting. The intern will also complete a dedicated project aimed at improving efficiency or automation within a core accounting process and will present their results at the end of the internship.

Project Goals and Deliverables:
• Support accounting initiatives related to system implementation, data accuracy, and process improvement.
• Gain practical experience with monthly close tasks, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Identify and recommend at least one improvement opportunity within Shield AI’s accounting processes or tools.

Required Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing an undergraduate, graduate, or PhD degree with an expected graduation date of December 2026 or Spring 2027.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with Workiva or similar software.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
• High attention to detail and capacity to manage multiple tasks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

KPIs and Milestones:
• Accurate and timely completion of assigned accounting tasks and reconciliations.
• Meaningful contribution to at least one system implementation or process improvement effort.
• Delivery of a final presentation or report with data‑based recommendations.
• Clear improvement in efficiency or documentation quality within the assigned process area.
• Positive feedback from mentors and team members for collaboration and initiative.

Compensation:
$27–$42 per hour
Rising Bachelor’s student: $27/hour
Rising Master’s student: $33/hour
Rising PhD student: $42/hour
A housing stipend is provided, with the amount varying by location.

Internship Dates:
June 1 – August 7
or
June 22 – August 28
You must be available to begin on either June 1 or June 22.

Shield AI offers competitive pay and a housing stipend for eligible interns. Although support and resources are provided, interns are responsible for securing their own housing and arranging travel to and from their assigned office. All internship offers depend on a successful background check and, if applicable, a reference check.
