About the Security Assurance Team

The Security Assurance team is essential in ensuring compliance with security standards and supporting risk management and oversight. Our goal is to maintain a secure operating environment by implementing and monitoring controls that safeguard our data, systems, and infrastructure.

About the Third Party Risk Management Specialist Role

We’re growing our Security Assurance team to enhance our third-party risk management efforts and strengthen vendor oversight.

We’re looking for a Third Party Risk Management Specialist with expertise in vendor risk assessments, contract security evaluations, and supply chain risk management. This role will be key in establishing a robust third-party risk management program that protects both Wealthsimple and our clients while supporting business growth. You’ll collaborate with teams across Security, Legal, Procurement, Product, and Engineering to ensure thorough due diligence and continuous monitoring of our vendor network.

In this role, you will:

– Lead the creation and rollout of a scalable third-party risk management program aligned with business goals and regulatory standards
– Perform detailed security risk evaluations of vendors, suppliers, and partners
– Work with cross-functional teams to design vendor onboarding/offboarding procedures, security questionnaires, and risk scoring systems
– Develop policies and processes for managing vendors throughout their lifecycle—from initial vetting to ongoing oversight and contract renewals
– Drive continuous monitoring through risk-based reviews, audits, and tracking of remediation efforts
– Support procurement and legal teams by reviewing contracts to ensure they include necessary security and compliance terms
– Assist in incident response efforts related to third-party security issues and vendor-related risks
– Maintain a centralized vendor risk registry and reporting dashboard for leadership visibility

What you’ll bring:

– 4–6 years of experience in third-party risk management, vendor risk assessment, or supply chain security (ideally in financial services or fintech)
– Familiarity with Canadian regulations (PIPEDA, OSFI) and global standards (SOC 2, ISO 27001), with experience assessing vendor compliance
– A track record of building and executing vendor risk programs in regulated, complex environments
– Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to clearly present risk insights and recommendations
– Experience with risk assessment tools, vendor questionnaires, and due diligence practices
– Understanding of security frameworks and control assessments (experience with GRC tools is a bonus)
– A self-starter who can manage multiple assessments and influence stakeholders across teams
– Relevant certifications are a plus (CTPRP, CISA, CISSP, CRISC, or similar)
