About the Role
As a Shift Supervisor, you’ll play a key leadership role in delivering outstanding hospitality and elevating the coffee experience, all while maintaining high café standards and supporting business goals. You’ll help cultivate a learning-focused environment, inspiring your team to grow and perform at their best.
Though this role doesn’t include direct reports, you’ll lead through collaboration and influence to drive team success.
Your Responsibilities
– Understand café costs and contribute to sales growth efforts
– Support daily operations and continuous improvements in your assigned area
– Manage service flow to ensure safety, cleanliness, quality, and efficiency
– Handle inventory tasks like ordering, receiving, and stock management
– Follow the Leader on Duty process, manage breaks, and ensure top-tier hospitality and product standards
– Help onboard and train new team members
– Manage cash handling and daily deposits
– Address guest concerns promptly
– Report any health or safety incidents
– Guide team members on new menu items and procedures
– Lead sustainability efforts and engage your team in these initiatives
– Consistently prepare and serve high-quality beverages and food
– Supervise high-performing team members
– Set a strong example through your behavior and leadership, embodying the spirit of Omotenashi
– Encourage curiosity and learning through tastings, cuppings, and training
– Ensure compliance with safety and company standards, and foster a respectful, supportive workplace

– At least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
What You Bring
– 6 months to 1 year of supervisory or team leadership experience
– Completion of (or willingness to complete within 90 days) Blue Bottle’s Barista training program
– Valid Food Safety Certification for your location (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
– Basic math and computer skills
– Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Physical Requirements
– Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
– Use of hands for precision tasks like making coffee and operating equipment
– Ability to bend, reach, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds
– Occasional climbing of stairs, ladders, or ramps
– Ability to taste, smell, listen, and speak to ensure quality and guest interaction
Compensation
– $18.45 per hour plus tips
