UX Design Engineer
Location: Remote / New York City
All Gold is the engineering and ecommerce team behind some of the world’s top online brands. Since 2010, we’ve been developing essential backend infrastructure for high-performing footwear and apparel companies, with a focus on ecommerce solutions for high-demand, limited-availability products.
Project Overview
You’ll be contributing to a multi-year platform initiative that supports dozens of artist websites for a global music company. The project involves building a white-labeled UI system, supporting an international rollout, and enabling real-time visual content editing for various use cases including ecommerce, tour dates, and discographies.
Our Work Style
We’re a lean, remote-first team of nine, with members based in New York, San Francisco, and the UK. We use GitHub for code management and Jira for tracking tasks and sprints.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re hiring a UX Design Engineer to help build a high-profile, headless Shopify site for a major publicly traded music company. You’ll be responsible for creating a reusable component library and visual theming system that integrates content and commerce into a seamless fan experience.
This role is ideal for a frontend developer with a strong design sensibility. You’ll collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver accessible, responsive, and pixel-perfect UI with performance in mind.
Key Responsibilities
– Design flexible, themeable UI systems from the ground up
– Create reusable designs for multiple artist websites
– Build a modular component library in Figma
– Develop components that are easy to export and share
– Ensure all interfaces meet WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards
– Participate in design reviews
– Attend occasional in-person meetings (for NYC-based team members)
Requirements
– 4+ years of UX design experience
– Proficient in Figma (mandatory)
– Strong portfolio with live examples
– Solid understanding of accessibility and WCAG compliance
– Exceptional attention to detail and pixel-perfect execution
– Experience with large-scale ecommerce projects
Preferred Technical Skills
– Experience with Tailwind CSS and design token systems
– Familiarity with StoryBook
– Comfortable with Git workflows and modern development practices
– Experience with Sanity CMS or large-scale theming systems
– Proficiency in TypeScript and React
