OVERVIEW

Location: Los Angeles, CA or Colorado Springs, CO

As a Cloud Engineer VI, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining both cloud and on‑premises systems in secure and scalable environments. Working with cross-functional teams, you will help build a DoD SAP Digital Engineering Ecosystem featuring a hybrid, multi‑level security cloud architecture. Your background in Kubernetes, cloud automation, and DevOps will guide cloud migrations, strengthen data protection, and shape deployment strategies. You will support agile development teams, automate cloud infrastructure, manage Kubernetes-based applications, and collaborate with cloud architects to ensure smooth cloud adoption while adhering to security standards.

The expected salary range for this position is $161,500–$225,000. Final compensation may be influenced by factors such as federal contract labor categories, contract wage requirements, relevant experience, specialized skills, location, education, and certifications. RESPONSIBILITIES
• Administer, configure, develop, and maintain Kubernetes-based cloud and on‑prem systems
• Design and implement hybrid cloud architectures with multi‑level security for DoD SAP environments
• Automate and optimize cloud environments using scripting and configuration management tools
• Oversee and refine applications deployed in Kubernetes clusters across hybrid and cloud ecosystems
• Recommend and implement cloud‑agnostic services through design, training, and monitoring
• Support cloud migration, security, and deployment initiatives alongside the cloud architecture team
• Maintain IT infrastructure compliance with DoD security standards (DOD 8570 IAT I/II)
• Design and manage secure, scalable cloud and on‑prem networks, including routers, switches, and security devices
• Create automation scripts (PowerShell, Python, Bash) to streamline operations
• Produce and update technical documentation for infrastructure, configurations, and workflows
• Share knowledge through documentation and training for software development teams
• Solve highly complex technical issues with innovative approaches
• Determine and execute strategies needed to meet cloud infrastructure goals
• Identify automation opportunities and develop scalable solutions to enhance cloud efficiency

KEY QUALIFICATIONS
• Active TS/SCI clearance
• Master’s degree and 15+ years of experience, including at least five years in a SAP and/or SCI environment, with one year occurring within the past five
• Active DoD 8570 IAT I or II certification (Security+ or equivalent)
• Extensive experience running applications in Kubernetes clusters
• Strong background with Linux systems such as CentOS, RHEL, or Rocky
• Advanced skills in cloud automation and configuration management
• Ability to collaborate with cloud architects on migration, security, and deployment strategies
• Proficiency in cloud resource provisioning, deployments, microservices, and DevOps practices

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience building and managing secure hybrid cloud systems for DoD or enterprise environments
• Understanding of DoD SAP requirements and multi‑level security cloud architectures
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to enhance operational processes
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities, including training teams in cloud best practices
