If you’re tech‑savvy, product‑minded, and enjoy working in small, fast‑moving SaaS teams without constant meetings — and you’re comfortable using GitHub — this role could be a great fit for you.
Location: Europe‑based time zones
Hours: Around 20 per week, set your own schedule
Compensation: 40–50 USD per hour
What Makes This Role Exciting
Paperbell is expanding quickly and ships updates often — usually between four and ten deployments each week. As our Product Owner, you’ll be key to ensuring we’re always building the right features, in the right way, at the right speed.
We’re a tiny, efficient team: you’ll collaborate directly with our two founders, one full‑time Rails developer, and a part‑time designer.
We don’t rely on meetings. Communication is async and concise — no daily standups, no recurring syncs, no slide decks. Our developer and designer share brief written updates when they work, and you keep things moving from there.
This isn’t a task‑pushing position. You’ll choose what gets built, define and scope features, guide development and design, test everything before release, and help shape Paperbell’s long‑term product direction.
About the Product
Paperbell is a SaaS platform that supports online coaching businesses (the life‑improvement kind, not sports).
Launched in 2020, we’ve been doubling our MRR every year and now serve thousands of paying customers. Coaches love Paperbell because it makes running their business simple. Our 100+ reviews on G2 and Capterra tell the story.
What You’ll Do Each Day
• Decide what to build next by gathering insights from customer feedback, support, competitors, and product data, then translating them into high‑impact product decisions.
• Define and scope features with design, trimming where needed to keep things lean and shipping fast.
• Prioritize work, balancing major features with smaller improvements and bug fixes.
• Oversee development, ensuring smooth progress, adjusting requirements when necessary, answering questions, and triaging bugs.
• Test and review features to confirm they meet spec and design, work correctly, and don’t introduce new issues.
• Keep work flowing by ensuring the developer and designer always have clear, unblocked tasks.
About You (Core Requirements)
• You’ve project‑managed a SaaS product before and can comfortably discuss technical considerations like tech debt.
• You’re confident using Git and GitHub, including creating issues, reviewing PRs, and leaving helpful comments.
• You can reproduce bugs using STRs and evaluate their urgency.
• You’re pragmatic — you know when to trim scope, when “good enough” works, and how to keep features focused.
• You’re organized and proactive, keeping work lined up and clearing blockers quickly.
• You’re comfortable performing light QA to ensure features behave as expected.
• You thrive without meetings and prefer clear async written communication.
Bonus Skills
• You can pull down a Rails project and get it running locally with minimal assistance.
• You’re strong with deeper data analysis using SQL or the Rails console.
About Our Company Culture
We’re a team of experts, and our goal is to give you everything you need to do high‑quality work while removing unnecessary busywork.
We’re async‑first and meeting‑free. Expect quiet, focused work — no chatter, no Zoom fatigue, no recurring syncs.
Work isn’t your social outlet here: we do great work, then log off. If you love building excellent product without distractions, you’ll fit right in.
Our founders have run fully remote companies since 2014 — we know how to do remote well.
