Matrix is hiring an Associate Vice President & Senior Director of Engineering Markets for the NJ/NY Region to lead business development and project delivery across central and northern New Jersey and New York. What You’ll Do
• Market Leadership and Business Development
• Lead strategic growth in NJ and NY by identifying new opportunities and building relationships with public agencies, municipalities, developers, and industry partners
• Direct proposal strategy and development for infrastructure, land development, and municipal work
• Represent Matrix at industry events and client meetings throughout the region
• Promote a client-focused approach that supports long-term partnerships and repeat engagements

• Technical Expertise and Mentorship
• Serve as a technical leader in civil and site engineering, stormwater management, grading, and utility design
• Mentor junior staff and support continuous improvement across the team

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (Master’s preferred)
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• More than 10 years of civil/site engineering and project management experience
• Demonstrated success as a seller‑doer with strong NJ and/or NY client relationships (NYC agency experience and broader regional or national client relationships are a plus)
• Strong understanding of state, municipal, and county regulations
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational abilities

Additional Qualifications
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, stormwater modeling, and permitting
• Knowledge of NJ and/or NY public bidding and procurement processes
• Ability to lead large-scale pursuits and manage complex projects
• Commitment to sustainability, resilience, and community-focused design
• Strong relationship-building and team-building skills
