At WHOOP, we aim to enhance human performance and extend healthspan. Our products give members deeper insight into their physiology, helping them make smarter choices about training, recovery, sleep, and daily habits.
As a Senior Industrial Designer focused on hard goods, you will help define the future of WHOOP’s wearable ecosystem by creating refined, user-centered products that seamlessly fit into everyday life. You will bring precision, beauty, and innovation to devices worn around the clock, setting high standards for craftsmanship, functionality, and design systems thinking.
This position requires a visionary, detail-oriented designer with strong experience in consumer electronics and wearables. You will lead complex design initiatives, mentor teammates, and drive development from concept to launch across a wide range of physical products that shape the WHOOP experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead design for hard goods including wearables, chargers, bands, accessories, packaging, and related ecosystem products.
• Guide projects from research and sketches through prototyping, refinement, DFM, and final production, ensuring the final product aligns with design intent.
• Create solutions informed by user behavior, wearability, physiology, and ergonomics, improving comfort, durability, and all-day performance.
• Use rapid prototyping to quickly test ergonomics, fit, usability, and CMF ideas.
• Innovate with materials, hybrid constructions, and scalable manufacturing processes, and define CMF strategies across product lines for consistency and quality.
• Collaborate closely with Apparel & Accessories, Hardware, Engineering, Product Marketing, and Development teams to deliver cohesive product experiences.
• Work with engineering and manufacturing partners to support DFM, evaluate risks, and preserve design quality throughout development.
• Use AI tools to speed up concept creation, form exploration, CMF studies, and iterations.
• Mentor junior designers, elevate creative standards, and contribute to a culture of clarity, excellence, and continuous improvement.
• Produce compelling visual communications—renderings, decks, and storytelling materials—for alignment with stakeholders and leadership.
• Partner with overseas manufacturing teams to ensure products meet WHOOP’s expectations for quality, innovation, and aesthetics.
• Support the evolution of WHOOP’s long-term physical design language and ecosystem strategy across future hardware and accessories.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 7–10 years of industrial design experience, especially in consumer goods, wearables, and electronics.
• A strong portfolio showcasing advanced form development, high‑performance product design, and refined execution.
• Expertise in 2D tools (Illustrator, Photoshop, Figma) and 3D tools (SolidWorks, KeyShot, 3D printing workflows).
• Experience using AI design tools for rapid concepting.
• Ability to lead complex programs with minimal supervision.
• Experience collaborating with engineering teams on DFM and working with offshore manufacturers.
• Deep understanding of materials, CMF strategy, molding, lamination, bonding, and scalable manufacturing.
• Strong grasp of ergonomics, human factors, and body‑worn products.
• Highly organized, self‑driven, and comfortable in a fast‑moving, growth‑stage environment.
