About the Role
The Athletic is seeking a video producer to join our expanding video team. The ideal candidate has a strong appreciation for a fast-growing sports brand, a passion for storytelling, and the ability to manage projects from concept to completion.

This position will focus primarily on football coverage, working daily with game footage. Producers will create original videos in collaboration with our newsroom, with the goal of helping football fans gain smarter insights. Expected content includes tactical breakdowns, previews, recaps, and video essays. Strong understanding of social video is important; you should know what performs well on each platform, be aware of leaders in the space, and contribute fresh, creative ideas.

Regular video editing is a core part of this job, and candidates must be skilled in Adobe Premiere and familiar with Adobe After Effects. The role is fully remote for applicants based in the United States or Canada.

Responsibilities
• Work with The Athletic’s newsroom during pre-production.
• Help develop and pitch new content ideas.
• Produce and edit weekly football video content.
• Use existing graphics packages; ability to create basic graphics is a plus.
• Coordinate content and promotional planning with teams across audio, video, editorial, social, and programming.
• Handle basic social media tasks such as uploading, scheduling, and publishing.
• Participate in peer reviews with colleagues.
• Occasionally film talent in studio.

Requirements
• At least 2 years of video production experience, preferably in sports.
• Strong understanding of the NFL media landscape, including strategies, trends, memes, and personalities.
• Experience editing in Adobe Premiere.
• Familiarity with Adobe After Effects preferred.
• Basic skills in color correction and audio mixing preferred.
• Some experience with DSLR shooting and simple lighting setups.
• Ability to foster creativity and experimentation.
• Proven success in meeting and surpassing both individual and team goals.
• Position is fully remote.

Compensation and Benefits
The annual base salary for this role is between $75,000 and $85,000 USD. Total compensation may vary depending on experience, skills, education, and location, and may include additional non-cash benefits. This salary range may change in the future.
