Job Title: Java Backend Developer (GCP)

Location: Remote, with a potential future relocation to Columbus, OH.

Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Java Backend Developer with strong Google Cloud Platform (GCP) expertise to join our client’s team. The position begins as fully remote, with the possibility of relocating to Dublin, OH later on. The ideal candidate will have deep backend development experience using Java and Spring Boot, as well as practical knowledge in building, deploying, and managing cloud‑native applications on GCP.

Responsibilities:
• Develop, design, and support scalable Java backend solutions using Spring Boot and a microservices architecture.
• Create and enhance APIs and services with an emphasis on security, performance, and scalability.
• Deploy, monitor, and manage applications within Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Utilize GCP services including:
– Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) for containerized workloads
– Cloud Run and App Engine for serverless or managed deployments
– Cloud Pub/Sub for messaging and event-driven systems
– BigQuery, Cloud SQL, and Firestore for data storage and analytics
– Cloud Storage for file and object management
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Cloud Build or Jenkins.
• Work closely with DevOps, QA, and Product teams to support seamless delivery.
• Apply best practices for cloud security, performance tuning, and cost optimization on GCP.

Required Skills & Experience:
• 8+ years of hands-on backend development experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong background in creating microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Proven expertise with GCP services such as GKE, Cloud Pub/Sub, Cloud Run, BigQuery, and Cloud SQL.
• Solid understanding of Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native deployments.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Willingness to relocate to Columbus, OH when needed.
