Metabase is hiring its first VP of Marketing, reporting directly to the CEO. Our product is beloved and has grown largely through word of mouth, and now we want to build on that momentum with a scalable, repeatable go‑to‑market strategy.
You’re a strong match if you:
• Understand what appeals to developers and data analysts and can craft genuine messaging and content they value
• Have developed a successful, end‑to‑end marketing strategy to engage target personas and drive growth, especially in a scaling startup or PLG environment
• Are familiar with the current landscape of open source software and data
• Know how to interpret and optimize every stage of the marketing funnel
• Work well with cross‑functional teams to run experiments and build growth channels
• Can zoom in on details while keeping sight of the bigger picture
• Are comfortable being both a hands‑on contributor and a leader who builds high‑performing teams
• Thrive in fast‑moving, ambiguous startup environments
As VP of Marketing, you will:
• Set the marketing strategy and build the team and systems needed to hit growth targets
• Partner with Success Engineering to expand our user, developer, and partner communities
• Take a hands‑on role in driving key marketing initiatives while building the team
• Clearly communicate Metabase’s value to analysts, developers, and teams
• Lead the development of content, community engagement, and social strategies that spark public conversation and build a loyal following
• Increase awareness of Metabase by experimenting with new channels and messaging
• Build the marketing operations foundation and promote a culture of data‑driven rigor alongside creativity and experimentation
