Position Summary: Join a small, energetic development team building key applications that support university team travel across the United States, from regular season trips to championship events. In this role, you will start by learning and supporting existing ColdFusion-based web applications used by staff and clients. Over time, you’ll also gain experience with additional development platforms that may enhance or replace legacy systems. What to Expect in This Role

Application Maintenance and Performance:
• Maintain consistent uptime for all internal and client-facing applications.
• Meet SLA standards from identifying bugs through resolving them.
• Regularly review and optimize code to ensure strong performance and security.

Feature Development:
• Deliver major new features or enhancements each year that align with the product roadmap and stakeholder needs.
• Lead the creation and integration of a significant new module or service within the first year, strengthening the portal’s value to clients.

Team Collaboration and Leadership:
• Work closely with product management and customer service teams to ensure development aligns with user feedback and requirements.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
• Implement at least two meaningful process or technology improvements annually to boost efficiency or product quality.
• Keep up with industry trends and new web development technologies, assessing their value for current and future projects.
• As part of the Short’s Travel Management team, you may occasionally support other departments or take on tasks outside your usual role to benefit the company and its clients. Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Technical Skills

Essential (Coldfusion Role):
• Experience with additional development languages, with .NET or React front-end development strongly preferred.
• Strong ColdFusion skills including CFML, CFCs, and CFScript.
• Solid background in web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, and SQL databases.
• Experience with ColdFusion frameworks, version control tools like Git, and REST or SOAP web services.

Preferred:
• Experience working with travel agency data.
• Experience using SQL Server and Salesforce as data sources.
• Experience developing AI-enabled features.
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
