OVERVIEW
The Project Manager oversees the effective planning, execution, monitoring, delivery, and completion of client projects. They work closely with clients to understand their needs and coordinate with a global team to fulfill those requirements and develop tailored solutions.
The ideal candidate is motivated yet composed, able to build strong relationships across the project team, and adaptable enough to succeed in a fast‑paced environment.
Main Duties
• Manage projects and take full responsibility for planning, executing, tracking, delivering, and closing them.
• Develop and oversee project schedules from production and proofreading to DTP/quality assurance and final delivery, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Identify risks and use strategic planning to reduce potential issues.
• Manage project budgets and control costs.
• Build solid relationships with internal teams and external vendors.
• Negotiate vendor rates with a focus on cost savings.
• Ensure all financial system data is accurate and up to date.
• Investigate client quality concerns and mediate between clients and vendors to resolve issues.
• Communicate with clients regarding project timelines, deliverables, and other key details.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with assigned clients.
Experience
• At least 2 years of relevant experience or training, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
• Proven project management experience in a fast‑moving, client‑focused environment, ideally within the translation or localization sector. Experience with Life Sciences accounts is an advantage.
• Understanding of the translation industry and interest in its technologies, processes, market landscape, and emerging trends.
• Demonstrated success in managing projects.
• Curiosity and creativity to challenge current processes and develop new approaches.
• Experience with financial management and budget oversight.
• Skills in customer relationship management and business development to encourage organic growth.
• Willingness to travel for work.
Required Skills
• Effective communication with internal and external team members to ensure smooth workflow.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating instructions and procedure manuals, write routine reports and correspondence, and speak confidently to customers or employees.
• Ability to perform basic math functions and calculate rates, ratios, and percentages, as well as interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions given in written, verbal, or diagram form and solve problems involving several concrete variables.
