Role Overview
The Senior Analyst plays a key role in supporting Busara’s advisory function by contributing to project decision-making and prioritization.

This role requires a strong understanding of specific contexts, markets, or issues to help define project parameters. The Senior Analyst will engage in both qualitative and quantitative research and support the preparation of research activities.

They will be responsible for preparing and structuring research, drafting reports and deliverables, and analyzing ongoing projects in close collaboration with Associates. The role also involves managing sensitive client interactions and ensuring the quality and accuracy of final outputs.

Key Responsibilities

Core Project Responsibilities
The Senior Analyst will collaborate with Project Leads, the research team, and advisory clients to:

– Conduct preparatory research, including literature reviews.
– Work on multiple large-scale projects simultaneously.
– Manage internal and external engagements with minimal supervision.
– Interpret and clarify research requests, identifying data sources and discussing needs with Associates and Engagement Directors.
– Prepare customized reports, highlighting key findings and communicating results clearly.
– Troubleshoot and resolve research-related inquiries, serving as a resource for internal and external stakeholders.
– Recommend data sources and collaborate with data and programming teams for data processing.
– Design and manage survey instruments and oversee data collection and analysis.
– Draft client reports, experimental designs, literature reviews, proposals, and presentations.
– Support knowledge management during project onboarding and offboarding.
– Coordinate logistics for project activities, including fieldwork and client meetings, in collaboration with operations teams.
– Maintain project timelines and notify team members of key deadlines.
– Perform additional duties as assigned by the project supervisor.
– Stay aligned with client and organizational goals, ensuring project teams remain focused.
– Identify and share lessons learned and relevant insights.
– Handle complex or sensitive projects with minimal oversight.
– Deliver high-quality work with creativity, rigor, and attention to detail.

Core Organizational Responsibilities
In addition to project work, the Senior Analyst will:

– Participate in team goal-setting and development activities.
– Contribute to training workshops for Analysts.
– Support internal initiatives as needed.
– Mentor Senior Field Officers when requested.
– Join internal committees as required.
– Represent the Analyst team and communicate their needs to leadership.
– Promote team morale and organizational cohesion.
– Model best practices for project execution.
– Provide feedback on initiatives affecting the Analyst team.
– Help coordinate internal projects and team-building efforts.
– Foster healthy cross-team collaboration and mediate issues as needed.

Required Qualifications

– Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Social Sciences, Public Policy, or a related field.
– Strong skills in qualitative and quantitative research and data analysis.
– At least two years of relevant work experience.
– Basic understanding of experimental design.
– Proven ability to manage relationships with partner organizations.
– Excellent organizational and management skills.
– Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to multitask effectively.
– Growth mindset and experience in fast-paced environments.
– Fluent in English with strong communication and writing skills.
– High attention to detail and strategic thinking.
– Willingness to travel to project locations, including international destinations in the Global South.
– Familiarity with R, STATA, Python, SAS, or similar tools.

Preferred Qualifications

– Experience with randomized controlled trials.
– Background in behavioral science.
– Experience with large-scale research or consulting projects in Busara’s regions of operation.
