Ambulance Billing and Coding Specialist (Remote)

Role Summary:
The Ambulance Billing and Coding Specialist is responsible for the precise coding and billing of ambulance services, ensuring adherence to healthcare regulations and insurance standards. This position demands meticulous attention to detail, proficiency in Medicare Part B Ambulance coding, and effective collaboration with both healthcare providers and insurance representatives.
Primary Duties:
– Apply accurate medical codes (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) to ambulance services, diagnoses, and procedures.
– Submit timely claims to insurance providers, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payers.
– Confirm patient insurance coverage and eligibility for ambulance services.
– Review medical records and transport documentation to ensure correct coding and billing.
– Maintain compliance with healthcare laws, coding standards, and payer requirements.
– Communicate with healthcare professionals to resolve documentation or coding questions.
– Enter patient and billing data accurately into the billing system.
– Provide support to patients and families regarding billing questions and help resolve issues.
– Make and receive client-related phone calls as part of daily responsibilities.
Qualifications:
– High school diploma or equivalent required.
– Proficient in Medicare Part B Ambulance coding (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS).
– Experience using Traumasoft billing software and EHR systems.
– Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
– Knowledge of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
– Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
– Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
– Effective time management and organizational skills.
– Prior experience in Medicare Part B Ambulance billing and coding is essential.
– Must be proficient in Traumasoft.
