Model N is looking for a skilled and forward-thinking senior technical consultant to join our Global Services team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise and extensive experience as a technical consultant. In this role, you will handle software development and customization, oversee operational tasks, and effectively address both project-related and operational challenges for our global clients. You will collaborate closely with delivery, product, engineering, and support teams to ensure that solutions meet business objectives and technical requirements. As part of the Life Sciences Application Services group, you will lead a small team of consultants to customize, implement, and deploy Model N BI applications. The role requires solid experience implementing enterprise-level BI software (using tools such as IBM Cognos and SQL), a strong customer focus, and the ability to manage multiple projects or work streams independently.

Job Responsibilities
Collaborate with global clients and internal teams to gather technical requirements.
Create, optimize, and troubleshoot complex Oracle SQL queries, stored procedures, and views to support reporting and analytics.
Convert functional and business needs into technical specifications and Cognos or SQL deliverables.
Design, build, and manage Cognos reports.
Work with delivery teams to ensure smooth implementation and handoff of solutions.
Participate in the full BI development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operational support.
Translate customer needs into BI software design, development plans, and implementation strategies. Recommend system improvements based on customer challenges and product needs. Communicate with users, technical teams, and management to gather requirements and explain features and technical designs.
Ensure all system changes are thoroughly tested.
Partner with cross-functional groups to evaluate data flows and enhance reporting efficiency.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role.

Job Qualifications
Over 5 years of BI software development experience and enterprise software implementation using IBM Cognos, with at least 3 years in a BI developer position.
Strong understanding of data analytics and business intelligence principles.
Experience in relational database programming, especially Oracle, advanced SQL, and PL/SQL.
Knowledge of logical database design and SQL performance optimization is preferred.
Experience with Cognos Analytics development, server configuration and administration, packaging and deployment, model creation, report development, and the Cognos Framework Manager is a plus.
Familiarity with analytics tools such as Looker, including LookML development, is highly desirable.
Demonstrated ability in performance tuning, including SQL optimization and other tuning methods.
Experience working across all stages of the BI software development lifecycle, with emphasis on structured methodologies and tools.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to meet project deadlines.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
