The Consumer team is responsible for creating Plaid’s first direct‑to‑consumer products, beginning with a security‑driven experience that helps people safeguard and manage their financial identities. Our goal is to build intuitive, trustworthy tools that give users greater control over their financial information and boost their confidence when using Plaid.
This is a small, fast‑paced group developing Plaid’s first consumer app from the ground up. Engineers play a key role in shaping the product, its architecture, and long‑term strategy while working closely with product, design, and research partners.
As part of the Consumer team, you will help design and implement the systems behind Plaid’s first consumer app. You will work with product, design, and infrastructure teams to deliver features that help people manage their financial identity and feel secure in their financial lives.
As a senior technical leader, you will influence architectural decisions, scale backend systems, and guide the long‑term technical vision for Plaid’s consumer platform. You will also mentor other engineers and help establish best practices as the team grows and Plaid expands its consumer offerings.
Responsibilities:
• Design and develop backend systems that support consumer‑facing features
• Lead technical execution of major initiatives in close partnership with product, design, and infrastructure teams
• Conduct experiments and use data to refine user‑facing features and improve engagement
• Mentor engineers and support a strong, inclusive team culture
• Shape the long‑term technical direction of Plaid’s consumer platform
Qualifications:
• 8+ years of software engineering experience with a strong record of delivering impactful projects
• 2+ years leading projects and collaborating with cross‑functional partners such as product, design, and data science
• Experience running experiments and using data to guide product and technical decisions
• Strong user empathy and the ability to balance technical choices with product goals
• Proven leadership skills, including mentoring less experienced engineers
Compensation for this role ranges from $202,800 to $330,000 annually. Total compensation may also include equity and/or commission, depending on the specific role. Plaid offers comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and a 401(k). Pay is based on factors such as role scope, experience, skillset, and location, and may change as outlined in applicable compensation or benefits plans.
