The Corporate Development team at Wealthsimple is a small, high-impact group focused on driving the company’s growth through mergers and acquisitions, strategic investments, and partnerships. We’re looking for someone who can move seamlessly between strategic planning and hands-on deal execution to support our top priorities. You’ll collaborate with product, engineering, and business leaders to identify and pursue opportunities for non-organic growth that enhance our capabilities in product, technology, and talent. You’ll be responsible for developing thorough analyses to assess build/buy/partner options and deliver strategic recommendations to leadership. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to shape the company’s growth trajectory through innovative thinking.

In this role, you will:

– Work with leaders across the organization to uncover strategic opportunities that can accelerate our product and business goals
– Stay informed on market trends and the competitive landscape to build strong business cases for growth through new products or partnerships
– Conduct both qualitative and quantitative assessments, including build/buy/partner evaluations, financial modeling, and forecasting
– Lead all phases of deal execution—from sourcing and evaluation to negotiation, due diligence, structuring, closing, and integration—while coordinating with cross-functional teams
– Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels and with external partners such as VCs, founders, and investment banks

We’re looking for someone who has:

– 5+ years of experience in corporate development, investment banking, venture capital, or private equity
– A proactive, ownership-driven mindset and thrives in a fast-paced environment
– A passion for high-growth technology, fintech, and traditional financial services
– Strategic thinking skills, combining curiosity, business acumen, and product insight
– Strong problem-solving abilities and a talent for structured analysis
– Advanced financial modeling and valuation expertise (e.g., DCF, comparables)
– High emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills for relationship-building
– The ability to manage multiple high-priority projects and collaborate across teams
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly and persuasively
