How You’ll Contribute
As a Science & Analytics Manager, you’ll join our 15+ person Science & Analytics team within the broader 30+ person Data department.
You’ll grow and lead your analytics team through strategic hiring and resource planning. You’ll collaborate with other managers to create an environment where your team can thrive.
You’ll use data to uncover opportunities to grow the business and improve operations. You’ll work closely with Product leaders, anticipate key questions, and use your analytical skills to provide insights.
You’ll guide decision-making through complex analyses, often involving uncertainty and cross-functional collaboration.
You’ll champion our self-service analytics approach, understand internal data needs, and promote a data-driven culture. Your team will help build data models in our Data Warehouse using dbt.
You’ll also help shape the Data Engineering roadmap to enhance the data platform experience for all teams.

What to Expect at Pennylane

Within 1 Month:
– Get fully onboarded and learn about our company, teams, and vision
– Meet your team and begin taking on responsibilities

Within 3 Months:
– Fully lead your team
– Take ownership of a Product area and prioritize tasks with stakeholders
– Be comfortable with our tech stack (Python, Redshift, Athena, dbt)

Within 6 Months:
– Participate in cross-team management initiatives
– Contribute to the team’s strategic roadmap
– Collaborate with engineers and data experts to improve our stack
– Share knowledge and best practices within the team

Beyond:
– As the data team grows, so will your opportunities:
– Recruit, mentor, and manage new team members
– Lead major projects
– Design and implement new tools, processes, and best practices

Recruitment Process
– Initial interview with our Talent Acquisition Manager
– Case study interview (75 minutes)
– Past project discussion (60 minutes)
– Interview with Tech & Product leaders to discuss your management style and cultural fit (60 minutes)
