We’re growing our Information Security and Data Protection team at Octopus Electric Vehicles and are looking for a Data Protection Manager to help us navigate a fast-moving security landscape.

In this role, you’ll ensure our operations remain compliant with UK GDPR and data protection laws, while collaborating across teams to enhance our capabilities and develop innovative solutions that improve our service for both new and existing customers.

What you’ll be doing:

– Compliance & Governance: Maintain and improve our data protection strategy, policies, and compliance framework in line with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and PECR.
– Records & Risk: Lead Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), update Records of Processing Activities (RoPA), conduct Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs), and manage related documentation.
– Subject Rights: Handle Data Subject Access Requests (SARs) and other rights requests (e.g., erasure, rectification) from start to finish in a timely and compliant way.
– Breach Response: Manage our data breach response, including investigation, reporting, remediation, and communication with the ICO and affected individuals.
– Advisory Role: Be the go-to expert for data privacy, offering practical advice to stakeholders at all levels.
– Third-Party Risk: Assess and manage data protection risks with third-party vendors, including SaaS providers, finance partners, dealerships, data brokers, and marketing agencies.
– Training & Awareness: Create and deliver engaging training and awareness campaigns to build a strong privacy culture.
– Monitoring & Reporting: Stay on top of regulatory changes and report on our compliance and risk status.
– ICO Contact: Act as a liaison with the ICO and support the Data Protection Officer.

What you’ll need:

– A genuine interest in Data Protection, Privacy, and Information Security, with the ability to explain these topics clearly to others.
– Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and ICO expectations.
– Self-driven, forward-thinking, and capable of leading your own initiatives.
– Ability to manage priorities under pressure.
– A dependable team player with great attention to detail.
– Familiarity with Information Security and ISO27001 compliance is a plus.
– Experience in financial services or knowledge of FCA regulations is a bonus.
