About Pythian:
Pythian specializes in strategic database and analytics services, helping organizations drive digital transformation and improve operational performance. Since our founding in 1997, we’ve built a strong reputation for solving complex data challenges. As the industry transitioned from on-premises to cloud, we expanded our expertise to include advanced analytics.

Today, we help businesses embrace innovation and adopt cutting-edge technologies like AI to stay competitive. Our tailored solutions support clients’ data objectives, and we’ve established strong partnerships with major platforms including Google Cloud, AWS, Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, and Snowflake. Our deep knowledge of data and cloud technologies, combined with our focus on emerging tools, makes us a trusted partner for mid- to large-sized enterprises navigating digital change.

About the Role:
As a Data Scientist at Pythian, you’ll apply your skills in data analysis, machine learning, and statistical modeling to generate insights and build predictive models. You’ll contribute to both internal projects and client engagements, using a range of techniques to address complex business issues. You’ll also work with and optimize pre-trained models, such as Large Language Models (LLMs), to enhance development speed and model accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

– Gather, clean, and analyze large datasets from multiple sources to uncover insights
– Design and deploy machine learning models using both supervised and unsupervised methods
– Customize and fine-tune pre-trained models (e.g., LLMs) for specific applications
– Collaborate with teams across engineering, product, and domain areas to create data-driven solutions
– Build algorithms and predictive models to solve business problems
– Present findings clearly to stakeholders using visualizations and reports
– Stay informed on the latest trends in data science, machine learning, and AI, especially in the use of pre-trained models
– Contribute to internal knowledge and tools related to analytics, modeling, and AI

Qualifications:

– Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field (Ph.D. preferred)
– At least 3 years of experience in data science, machine learning, or a similar role
– Proficiency in Python or R and familiarity with libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn
– Practical experience with pre-trained models such as LLMs or other deep learning tools
– Solid understanding of statistical methods, machine learning techniques, and data visualization
– Experience with databases (SQL, NoSQL) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
– Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex data insights to business audiences
– Consulting or client-facing experience is a plus

What We Offer:

– Competitive compensation package with annual bonus
– Generous training allowance and professional development opportunities
– Fully remote work—no commuting required; work from anywhere in the US or Canada with reliable internet
– Home office setup support, including a laptop (your choice of OS) and a yearly budget to personalize your workspace
– Opportunities to engage with the community—blog during work hours or take a day off to volunteer for a cause you care about

Additional Information:
A background check will be required for the selected candidate.
We are committed to providing accommodations upon request during any part of the hiring process.
