About the Role:

As a Senior Software Engineer in Developer Productivity, you’ll collaborate with engineers and leadership to enhance how software is developed at Deputy, directly impacting millions of users worldwide. You’re skilled at eliminating repetitive tasks, optimizing workflows, and enabling teams to work more effectively. You’ll build tools and systems that provide valuable insights, helping teams understand and improve their contributions to the platform. You’re proactive, resourceful, and thrive in a role that spans multiple disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

– Design and develop tools to boost engineering team productivity
– Focus on the needs of engineers as your primary customers
– Enhance the developer experience across the web stack, including dev tools and CI/CD
– Modernize the developer tech stack to improve efficiency
– Collaborate with product engineering teams to foster a culture of effectiveness
– Build and maintain internal self-service tools that support both technical and non-technical teams while reducing manual work

Skills and Experience:

– 5+ years in software development, with at least 2 years in a senior role
– Skilled in combining software and systems engineering to support a large, diverse engineering team
– Strong understanding of distributed systems and their challenges
– Proficient in multiple programming languages; we use Go, PHP, JavaScript, and Terraform
– Familiar with cloud-native tools like Hashicorp Vault, OpenTelemetry, OpenAPI, and gRPC
– Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, CircleCI, and Makefiles
– Comfortable working with a range of stakeholders, both technical and non-technical
– Proficient with containerization and virtualization technologies like Docker, ECS/ECR, and Kubernetes (EKS)
– Strong knowledge of security best practices in development environments
– Experienced with AWS and cloud infrastructure
– Familiar with storage and caching solutions like Aurora MySQL, Redis, and RDS MySQL
– Experience using low-code/no-code platforms to quickly build internal tools
