About the Role:
CrowdStrike is seeking a seasoned Engineer to join our Data Services team and help elevate our database infrastructure. We’re looking for a technically skilled, hands-on professional who enjoys working with data plane technologies such as Cassandra, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Kafka, Redis, Valkey, MySQL, and PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate will have experience automating large-scale, cloud-based systems. We value past accomplishments as indicators of future success.

Primary Focus:
Expertise in OpenSearch and Elasticsearch.

Responsibilities:

– Maintain in-depth knowledge of data technologies like Cassandra, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Kafka, Zookeeper, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, Valkey, Memcache, Pulsar, and SQS, and use this knowledge to manage and automate well-configured clusters.
– Operate databases within Kubernetes environments and manage container images.
– Build infrastructure services that support a full DevOps model for the engineering team.
– Collaborate with Engineering and Customer Support to resolve urgent production issues, regardless of timing.
– Ensure that petabytes of critical business data remain secure, accessible, and protected.

Requirements:

– Experience with configuration management tools like Chef.
– Proficient in scripting with Python and Bash.
– Familiarity with large-scale data storage systems using technologies such as Cassandra, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Kafka, Zookeeper, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, Valkey, Memcache, Pulsar, and SQS.
– Background in managing large, mission-critical Linux environments.
– Experience working in cloud platforms, preferably AWS, GCP, and OCI.
– Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with both local and remote teams.
– Proven decision-making skills, especially under pressure.
– Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
– A balance of confidence and independence, with the judgment to seek team input when necessary.
– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
