About the role
The Director of Data Engineering will help our Analytics team build a modern, scalable, high‑performance data platform. This leader will collaborate with cross‑functional partners to develop and maintain robust data pipelines and assets across platforms including Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Snowflake. The role requires driving data engineering efforts that integrate multiple data sources, unify models, and support analytics and business intelligence across the organization. It combines strategic direction with hands‑on expertise in data architecture, automation, and standardization to support teams such as Data Science, Strategy, and other internal and external stakeholders.
As Director, you will lead a team of engineers, manage full project lifecycle delivery, and ensure the stability and scalability of the data ecosystem.
What you’ll do
• Application Support and Platform Leadership
• Lead support services for analytics platforms including Tableau, Power BI, Looker, and others
• Manage engineering teams and external vendors to maintain platform excellence
• Oversee support operations, issue resolution, and performance monitoring
• Strategic Analytics Partnership
• Work closely with business leaders to shape and execute the analytics strategy
• Advance quality improvement initiatives through performance measurement
• Data Architecture and Engineering
• Design and implement data architecture across ingestion, transformation, unification, and consumption layers
• Build and maintain scalable analytics structures such as tables, schemas, and views
• Produce efficient, well-documented SQL for analytics and BI tools
• Data Management and Analysis
• Collect, evaluate, and interpret data from transactional systems, ODS environments, external platforms, and reporting systems
• Maintain high data quality and resolve data integrity issues with IT and QA teams
• Collaboration and Documentation
• Partner with data scientists, analysts, project managers, media teams, and QA to deliver end‑to‑end solutions
• Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation
• Participate in code reviews and champion engineering best practices
• Innovation and Continuous Improvement
• Identify opportunities for automation, efficiency, and standardization
• Track industry trends and guide the adoption of new technologies
• Support data governance, compliance, and security (HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA)
• Risk Management and Quality Assurance
• Work with QA teams to ensure accuracy, testing rigor, and quality improvements
• Identify risks, propose mitigation plans, and implement solutions
About you
• 4+ years of data engineering experience, including advanced SQL, data modeling, and performance tuning in large relational databases
• 2+ years designing and automating ETL pipelines with tools such as dbt, Airflow, or custom APIs
• Proficient with Snowflake, GCP, BigQuery, and PostgreSQL
• Strong understanding of data warehousing, cloud infrastructure, IAM, encryption, and governance
• Skilled with Git, CI/CD, and software development practices
• Able to translate business needs into scalable data solutions with strong documentation and communication
• Experience with Tableau, Power BI, Looker, advanced SQL, and Excel
• Strong communication skills and ability to present insights to technical and executive audiences
• Familiarity with marketing analytics platforms like Google Analytics, Campaign Manager, and Facebook Ads
• Experience with healthcare data and compliance frameworks such as HIPAA, GDPR, and CCPA
• Experience in hybrid Agile/Waterfall environments with cross‑functional teams
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
$150,000–$170,000 per year
