Octopus Energy has experienced rapid growth since its inception and has evolved into a complex, multi-billion-dollar international organization. It operates across several sectors, including retail energy, utility management, energy generation, electric vehicle leasing, and software solutions.
We are dedicated to innovation, sustainability, and delivering excellent customer service. As part of our expansion, we are rolling out NetSuite and various supporting finance tools—such as OCR and AP Management—to enhance our finance operations and boost efficiency. We are looking for a Finance Systems Business Analyst to help drive these initiatives forward.
Our current business management systems have reached their limits in terms of capacity and functionality. A new ERP system is essential to support the Group’s financial infrastructure and to enable better data integration and insights across the organization. We have chosen Oracle’s NetSuite SAAS platform for this purpose, and the selection of additional applications is currently in progress.
This role is crucial to the continued success of our finance function and systems, ensuring strong internal controls aligned with the Group’s segregation of duties. It will also play a key role in defining streamlined processes and procedures across the organization.
As part of the Finance Systems & Transformation team at Octopus, you will lead and execute end-to-end testing for financial systems and transformation projects. You will also be responsible for establishing best practices in test management, developing test strategies, and supporting business stakeholders through the testing process.
Finance is central to our operations, so you will frequently collaborate with other teams and systems within Octopus. You’ll be expected to test both internally developed and third-party systems.
What you’ll do:
– Estimate the testing effort required for all finance system implementations, including integrations with internal and external platforms.
– Plan, develop, and execute comprehensive test strategies and plans.
– Design and carry out all testing activities, including Functional, System Integration, Regression, and support for User Acceptance Testing.
– Analyze complex information to create high-quality test cases and prepare test data for various testing phases.
– Perform and maintain manual tests, providing accurate time estimates for test completion.
– Document issues and defects clearly, supplying sufficient data for quick resolution.
– Assess the impact of change requests on testing plans and timelines.
– Participate in daily stand-ups and defect triage meetings.
– Coordinate defect management with internal teams, third-party vendors, and system integrators.
– Provide clear testing metrics to stakeholders and help resolve any bottlenecks with the project team.
– Track and report on test progress, product quality, results, and completion to management.
What you’ll need:
– Proven experience as a Test Analyst with solid knowledge of testing methodologies, tools, and processes.
– Over 5 years of experience in test management.
– ERP testing experience is essential—experience with Oracle NetSuite is preferred, but experience with other systems like Microsoft or SAP is also valued.
– Experience testing complex business systems, including integrations, data migration, and system cutovers.
– Proficiency in various testing types, including Functional, Regression, UAT, and End-to-End testing.
– Ability to create test deliverables such as test plans, test cases, test data, and traceability matrices.
– Demonstrated experience managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
– A strong track record of delivering projects on time.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Additional useful experience:
– Understanding of financial processes and accounting principles.
– Familiarity with financial software and systems, such as OCR and invoice matching tools.
If this sounds like a good fit, we’d love to hear from you.
