About the Team:
The Fraud Investigations team is part of Wealthsimple’s Security & Risk CXO Group, which operates within the Client Experience Operations division. This group is responsible for both the investigative and operational aspects of fraud, including prevention, detection, investigation, and ensuring a positive client experience. The team plays a vital role in protecting our clients and upholding trust in Wealthsimple’s services.

The Investigator will assess incidents of suspected financial crime targeting Wealthsimple and its clients, and provide recommendations for future prevention strategies. This role involves proactively identifying potential fraud through thorough analysis and responding effectively to reported cases.

This is a 6-month contract position reporting to either the Identity & ATO or Invest & Crypto teams.

In this role, you will:

– Conduct thorough investigations into suspected financial crimes
– Apply critical thinking and data analysis to detect fraudulent patterns
– Use internal tools and systems to gather information and document findings
– Take appropriate action on fraudulent or suspicious activity in line with industry and company standards
– Handle multiple investigations simultaneously while meeting case resolution timelines
– Communicate directly with clients to investigate and resolve issues
– Join regular team meetings to discuss trends and share insights on financial crime

Skills we’re looking for:

– At least 1 year of experience in fraud investigation
– Strong attention to detail and strategic thinking abilities
– Resourceful, persistent, and able to work well in a fast-paced setting
– Knowledge of fraud prevention frameworks, controls, and technologies in financial services (experience with crypto and blockchain is a plus)
– Skilled in collecting, organizing, and analyzing large datasets accurately
– Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, and detail-oriented skills
