The Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing and developing cloud architectures, solutions, and migration strategies that support Paymentology’s business goals. This includes evaluating current IT infrastructure, identifying opportunities for cloud adoption, and recommending migration approaches that balance cost, performance, and security. The role establishes cloud architecture principles, standards, and best practices while ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory requirements. It also involves designing scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation, implementing robust cloud security, optimizing resource usage, and supporting cloud deployments across AWS, Azure, and OCI.

What you will do:

Cloud Design and Development:
• Lead the design and development of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) architectures
• Build scalable, resilient cloud solutions with IaC tools such as Terraform
• Design and migrate applications across GCP and AWS, and optionally Azure and OCI
• Work with stakeholders to define cloud strategies and enhance existing infrastructure

GCP and Multi-Cloud Expertise:
• Build and deploy cloud-native solutions in GCP and AWS using services such as EKS, GKE, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, IAM, and Cloud SQL
• Design and improve networking in GCP and AWS, including VPC, Interconnect, Cloud Load Balancing, VPN, and Private Link
• Implement IAM and security policies
• Work with Google Anthos, Kubernetes, and container-based architectures
• Optimize cost and performance across GCP and AWS environments
• Provide support for Azure and OCI when required

Kafka and Kubernetes Platform Management:
• Design, deploy, and maintain scalable Kafka and Kubernetes clusters for development and production
• Apply best practices to ensure high performance, availability, and security
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and fine-tune Kafka and Kubernetes to support development teams

Implementation:
• Deploy cloud components including compute, storage, networking, and security services
• Ensure smooth integration with existing systems across multi-cloud platforms

Migration and Deployment:
• Evaluate and migrate on-premises applications to Google Cloud
• Develop and implement cloud migration and deployment strategies that prioritize security and performance
• Use Terraform, Deployment Manager, and CloudFormation for IaC deployments

Security and Compliance:
• Implement cloud security controls and ensure compliance with ISO 27001, PCI DSS, GDPR, and other standards
• Define cloud architecture standards and best practices for secure environments

Performance Optimization:
• Monitor and fine-tune cloud resources for cost efficiency, performance, and scalability
• Use DevOps practices to streamline deployment and operations

Troubleshooting and Support:
• Provide technical support for cloud infrastructure and services
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to performance, availability, and security
• Support production environments and join an on-call rotation when necessary

Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:
• Develop documentation and best practice guides for cloud environments
• Conduct training sessions and workshops for team members
• Create technical presentations and contribute to ongoing improvement

Continuous Learning:
• Stay current with evolving cloud technologies and trends
• Take part in training, certification programs, and industry events

Requirements:

Education and Certifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields (or equivalent experience)

Professional Certifications:
• GCP Professional Cloud Architect (a plus)
• AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, OCI Cloud Architect Associate

Experience:
• 7+ years of experience designing, implementing, and managing cloud solutions across multiple platforms
• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud (GCP) and AWS
• Proven ability to design and implement cloud architectures
• Extensive experience with Apache Kafka setup, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting
• Strong Kubernetes (GKE) expertise, including Helm charts and operators
• Hands-on experience with DevOps tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, ArgoCD, and IaC tools like Terraform and Ansible
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git
• Strong scripting skills (Bash, Shell, PowerShell, Python)
• Experience automating infrastructure with Terraform, CloudFormation, and ARM templates
• Familiarity with Agile methods and cloud governance
• Optional experience with Azure and OCI

Preferred Certifications:
• Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect
• AWS Solutions Architect – Professional
• Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert
• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
