The selected candidate will support water resources projects by providing technical GIS expertise. Many of these projects are for public sector clients, requiring exceptional service and quality. Ideal candidates will have a strong grasp of GIS principles and experience using Esri software. We are seeking a driven and enthusiastic GIS professional who is motivated to deliver GIS-based solutions for both internal teams and clients.

What You’ll Do:

– Provide GIS leadership in water resources and regulatory compliance consulting.
– Guide GKY’s corporate GIS strategies and initiatives, including:
– Implementing established policies and cartographic standards for quality control and data accuracy.
– Training staff and offering technical support for GIS applications and mapping needs.
– Assessing emerging technologies and software tools.
– Lead GIS analysis and mapping efforts, including:
– Collaborating with project teams and clients to define project goals and deliverables.
– Responding to requests for water resource data, maps, reports, and infrastructure information.
– Reviewing GIS and database outputs for accuracy and consistency.
– Creating drainage area maps for stormwater infrastructure.
– Developing and maintaining GIS tools and applications for data collection and reporting.
– Support Clean Water Act compliance through GIS analysis.
– Participate in fieldwork, including stormwater infrastructure inspections and reporting.

Required Experience:

– Minimum of 2 years of hands-on GIS experience or equivalent.
– Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in GIS, geography, or a related field.
– Strong skills in GIS, data analysis, and application development.
– Experience with GPS and field data collection.
– Proficiency in Esri ArcGIS software (Desktop and Pro).
– Familiarity with ArcGIS Online and tools like Collector, Field Maps, and Survey123.
– Experience creating geodatabases and data schemas.
– Knowledge of GIS integration with other technologies.
– Ability to produce high-quality maps and project visuals.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
– Valid driver’s license.
– Authorization to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

– GISP or Esri certification.
– Experience with scripting (e.g., Python), database management, and software development.
– Knowledge of Clean Water Act compliance, especially MS4 and TMDL programs.
– Experience working with local governments.
– Strong verbal and written communication skills.
– Ability to conduct fieldwork in challenging terrain and weather conditions.
– Excellent organizational skills.
