What’s the role?

We’re looking for a Head of LATAM Public Affairs to lead our public affairs efforts across Latin America. In this role, you’ll shape and implement strategies to engage with governments, regulators, and industry groups, supporting our business goals and strengthening our reputation. You’ll be dLocal’s main representative in public policy discussions and regulatory forums, ensuring our approach aligns with our global vision. Reporting to the Global Head of Corporate Affairs, you’ll work closely with regional leaders and teams across Legal, Compliance, Communications, and Business Development.

What will you be doing?

– Design and implement a regional public affairs strategy aligned with global and local goals.
– Build and maintain relationships with government bodies, regulators, and industry associations to support business growth.
– Track and analyze policy developments across LATAM and advise leadership accordingly.
– Lead responses to public policy issues, including writing position papers and representing dLocal in public settings.
– Work cross-functionally to ensure consistent messaging and strategy across departments.
– Manage public policy-related crisis communications and issue resolution.
– Represent dLocal at industry events and stakeholder meetings to enhance our influence and visibility.
– Develop advocacy campaigns and build coalitions to support business objectives.
– Ensure all public affairs activities comply with legal and ethical standards.
– Lead and mentor a high-performing public affairs team across key LATAM markets, supporting local managers.
– Oversee media and communication efforts that support public affairs strategies in the region.

What skills do you need?

– Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, Law, Public Policy, Communications, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
– At least 10 years of experience in public affairs, government relations, or regulatory roles, with strong exposure to LATAM.
– Proven success working with government officials, regulators, and industry bodies in Latin America.
– Deep knowledge of political, economic, and regulatory environments in major LATAM countries.
– Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills; fluent in English and Spanish (Portuguese is a plus).
– Experience leading cross-functional projects and teams in multicultural settings.
– Strong analytical skills and the ability to anticipate and address policy issues.
– High ethical standards and a strong commitment to compliance.
– Background in multinational companies, ideally in fintech, payments, or tech sectors, is a plus.
– Demonstrated ability to develop and execute impactful public affairs strategies.
– Established network within government and industry in key LATAM markets (e.g., Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Chile).
– Experience managing crises and sensitive regulatory or reputational matters.
– Willingness to travel frequently across the LATAM region.
