Position Description
The Impact Investing Program has grown significantly in recent years and is adding a new role to the team. TSFF is seeking a results-driven, collaborative, and adaptable early-career investment professional to join as an Investment Analyst. The Program focuses on preserving capital while making impact-first investments across sustainable agriculture, energy, human rights, the circular economy, and marine conservation. This position requires strong attention to detail and a genuine interest in the Foundation’s mission. The ideal candidate is self-directed yet works well within a team as the program continues to evolve. Reporting to the Portfolio Director and working with an eight-person investment team, the Analyst will balance portfolio monitoring and data management with support for new investments. Responsibilities include maintaining and improving investment systems such as iLevel and the liquidity model, as well as contributing to due diligence, financial modeling, and research.

Key Responsibilities
• Gather quarterly and annual financial and impact data from portfolio companies and perform initial analysis.
• Manage the monitoring cycle and apply financial analysis to track portfolio company performance, identify trends, and inform strategy.
• Serve as administrator for TSFF’s investment monitoring system (iLevel), ensuring accurate data entry, updated dashboards, and ongoing improvements.
• Maintain and refine the liquidity forecasting model and ensure alignment with iLevel, risk‑adjusted return models, and capital planning.
• Conduct qualitative research and assist in preparing financial analyses for potential investments, including summary financials, market research, and comparable company data.
• Develop a twice-yearly investment report for leadership and the Investment Committee.
• Support the development and upkeep of the impact metrics system, including data collection, analysis, and integration of social and environmental outcomes.
• Review and evaluate investor reports from portfolio companies.
• Partner with teammates to review financials, assess company performance, and support the annual audit process.
• Conduct market and sector research as needed to support investment pipeline development.
• Assist with ongoing portfolio management by collaborating with TSFF staff and investees, including preparing financial and investment reports.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with investees, TSFF staff, and internal partners.
• Handle special projects and investment‑related tasks for the Managing Director as needed.

Desired Knowledge and Experience
• At least 2–3 years of relevant experience in accounting, commercial banking, venture capital, private equity, investment banking, or a related field.
• Experience building financial models and evaluating financial statements; familiarity with forecasting, valuation, or sensitivity analysis is helpful.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience with strong financial grounding.
• Experience working with systems that manage financial or portfolio data (such as Excel, CRMs, or platforms like iLevel) and comfort creating or refining internal tools.
• Strong attention to detail, a commitment to high‑quality work, and strong organizational skills, including the ability to document and standardize recurring processes.
• Interest in joining a highly collaborative, fast‑moving team.
• Interest or experience—professional or volunteer—in one or more of TSFF’s focus areas: sustainable agriculture, energy, human rights, circular economy, or marine conservation.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, adapt to changing priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation and Location
Salary range: $115,000–$144,000 annually. The Foundation offers competitive compensation and excellent benefits. The position is based in the San Francisco Bay Area with a hybrid schedule. Candidates should be located in or willing to relocate to the Bay Area.
