Senior JavaScript Frontend Engineer (Custom Framework + jQuery)

The Position
We’re looking for a Senior JavaScript Frontend Engineer to take the lead on complex features within a large-scale, production-level application. You’ll work with our custom in-house framework built on jQuery, enhance performance, and help lay the foundation for future updates, including a gradual migration to React.

Responsibilities

– Develop, maintain, and refactor UI components using our custom jQuery-based framework
– Collaborate with product and backend teams to bring user-facing features from concept to deployment
– Work within and improve a large, mission-critical legacy codebase
– Use your deep JavaScript expertise to write performant, maintainable, and reliable code
– Contribute to the evolution of our frontend stack with a thoughtful, incremental approach

What We’re Looking For

– Advanced JavaScript skills (ES5/ES6+), including DOM manipulation and browser behavior
– Strong hands-on experience with jQuery, especially in custom implementations
– Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions
– Solid grasp of performance optimization, debugging, and scalable architecture
– Proven experience delivering features in a live production environment

Bonus Skills

– Experience with React, especially in migrating from legacy systems
– Familiarity with build tools like Vite, Webpack, or custom build pipelines
– A good sense for user experience and clean UI logic

Not a Fit If You Are

– A WordPress or theme developer
– Someone who assembles jQuery plugins without a strong understanding of JavaScript
