JOB DESCRIPTION:

Welocalize is hiring a Maps Quality Tester with a background in GIS or experience working with maps. In this role, you’ll contribute to the development of products for a top consumer tech company, helping ensure high-quality releases in global markets.

We’re looking for a sharp problem-solver, quick learner, and strong communicator who’s passionate about delivering top-tier products. You should thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to think critically and independently. Bonus points if you’re a cyclist who tracks performance across different routes.

Testers will collaborate closely with developers to ensure the highest quality application is delivered. The ideal candidate can break down complex issues into clear, actionable reports and must have excellent communication and organizational skills to succeed in a high-performing team.

Requirements:

– Must be based in Austin, TX (remote work)
– Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred (especially in Geography, Cartography, or related fields)
– Able to clearly explain technical concepts in reports
– Self-motivated and organized; capable of working independently
– Creative and user-focused mindset
– Professional and courteous
– Experience with iOS devices and general tech proficiency
– Familiar with mobile navigation apps like Apple Maps or Google Maps
– Comfortable working with data and spreadsheets
– Strong English communication skills (written and spoken)
– Knowledge of maps and web-based mapping tools
– Proficient in iOS and MacOS (preferred)

Preferred Qualifications:

– Experience with cycling
– Programming skills
– Technical troubleshooting abilities

Job Details:

– Location: Remote (Austin, TX)
– Duration: 12 months
– Hours: 40 hours/week
– Schedule: Flexible; work 8 hours between 7 am–7 pm, with core hours from 2 pm–5 pm
– Employment Type: W2 contract (benefits available after 390 hours)
