The MongoDB Database Administrator will oversee, maintain, and enhance MongoDB databases running on AWS. This position blends classic DBA duties with cloud engineering expertise to guarantee strong performance, security, and uptime for databases in hybrid or fully cloud-based environments.

What you’ll do:
• Database Administration:
Install, configure, and upgrade MongoDB environments on AWS (EC2, DocumentDB, or self-managed). Fine-tune performance, manage indexing and queries, and handle backups, restores, and disaster recovery. Implement replica sets, sharding, and other high-availability setups.
• AWS Integration:
Deploy and operate MongoDB using AWS services such as EC2 and DocumentDB. Use CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and IAM for monitoring and security. Build infrastructure using AWS CDK with TypeScript for automated provisioning.
• Security and Compliance:
Apply database security best practices, including encryption and access controls. Ensure compliance with standards such as GDPR, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and internal policies.
• Operational Excellence:
Monitor database health and performance, resolve database and AWS issues, and maintain thorough documentation.
• Collaboration:
Partner with Cloud Operations and Application teams on integrations, migrations, and modernization projects.
What you’ll bring:
• Strong background in MongoDB administration and tuning
• Solid experience with AWS (EC2, DocumentDB, RDS)
• Proficiency with AWS CDK in TypeScript
• Knowledge of observability tools like New Relic, CloudWatch, and Datadog, and experience with disaster recovery planning
• Understanding of networking (VPC, Transit Gateway)
• 10+ years as a DBA, including at least 3 years working with AWS
