We’re seeking an Editor based in Madrid, Spain, to temporarily join our Editorial team for a 7-month period. In this role, you’ll lend your music expertise to a variety of projects, including playlist curation and cross-functional collaboration with teams both locally and globally. You’ll use your deep understanding of Spanish music and culture to create compelling music experiences that go beyond playlists, maintain an inclusive editorial voice across moods, moments, and genres, and help uncover new artists through our extensive editorial network. You’ll also be a collaborative team member with a strong interest in data-driven performance, staying connected to the Spanish music scene and its trends, fan communities, and viral moments.

As a Music Editor, you’ll be encouraged to make decisions based on data. Most importantly, your work will shape how people around the world experience music.

What You’ll Do

– Act as a cultural expert and proactively spot music trends and opportunities for Spotify.
– Collaborate with various teams to support strategic initiatives and projects.
– Lead daily music programming and editorial planning for Spain, supporting the regional Editorial team.
– Analyze data to understand listener behavior and inform decisions.
– Partner with global editorial teams on diverse projects and programming efforts.
– Represent and advocate for Spanish artists within Spotify, helping grow their audiences.
– Work with product teams to incorporate human music knowledge and cultural insights into features and development.

Who You Are

– You have at least 3 years of experience in the music industry, with a background in programming or curating music for digital platforms, radio, TV, or other media, where connecting audiences with music and creators has been key.
– You are fluent in both Spanish and English, written and spoken.
– You are deeply passionate about music and culture, especially within Spain.
– You have a wide-ranging appreciation for all music genres—from Flamenco to Pop, Indie to Rock—and a strong ability to match songs to the right context.
– You are comfortable working with data and using it to guide your goals.
– You are detail-oriented, organized, hardworking, and bring a positive and approachable attitude.
– You are an enthusiastic Spotify user with a solid understanding of the platform.
– You’re a team player who adapts well to change and maintains a positive outlook.

Where You’ll Be

– This position is based in Madrid, Spain.
– We offer flexible working arrangements, including the option to work from home, with occasional in-person meetings.
