We’re seeking an Editor to join our Nordic Editorial team. In this role, you’ll apply your broad music genre knowledge to a variety of projects, including playlist curation and cross-functional collaborations across regional and global teams. You’ll use your cultural and musical insights to create compelling music experiences, maintain an unbiased editorial voice across different moods, moments, and genres, and support artist discovery through our extensive editorial ecosystem.
You should have a keen ear for music, strong analytical skills, and an understanding of how music from the Nordic region resonates globally. A passion for connecting audiences with both emerging and established artists—especially in genres like indie, alternative, rock, pop, dance, and hip-hop—is essential.
This position is about shaping culture, telling stories, and representing the Nordics on a global platform, while working closely with colleagues across markets.
What You’ll Do:
– Act as a cultural and genre expert, identifying music trends and opportunities for Spotify.
– Collaborate across teams to support strategic goals and initiatives.
– Lead daily music programming and editorial strategy for genres including Dance, Alternative, Rock, Indie, Pop, and Hip-hop.
– Review a wide range of music and identify suitable programming opportunities.
– Use data and analytics to understand listener behavior and inform decisions.
– Work with global editorial teams on various projects and programming efforts.
– Advocate for Nordic artists within Spotify, helping grow their audiences through insights and internal tools.
– Partner with product teams to incorporate music expertise and cultural context into product features.
– Ensure authentic representation of Nordic voices in global initiatives.
– Respond to cultural trends within key genres to ensure local relevance on the platform.
Who You Are:
– You have at least 3 years of experience in the music industry, curating or programming music for digital platforms, radio, TV, or other media.
– You possess deep knowledge of music and culture, particularly in indie, alternative, rock, pop, dance, and hip-hop, and are passionate about storytelling through music.
– You’re skilled in using data to make informed decisions and drive impactful curation.
– You’re culturally aware and responsive to both local and global trends.
– You’re a confident communicator who can represent Nordic music perspectives in international settings.
– You’re comfortable working with data and using it to set and evaluate goals.
– You’re detail-oriented, adaptable, and a collaborative team player with strong organizational skills.
– You have a strong understanding of Spotify as a platform and user.
– You’re fluent in Swedish and English, with knowledge of an additional Nordic language being a plus.
Where You’ll Be:
– This position is based in Stockholm.
