Position Title: OD2A Project Manager
Location: Hybrid role based in Atlanta
Position End Date: 9/29/26
Salary: $100,000 plus benefits

Overview:
The CDC Foundation is partnering with CDC as well as state and local agencies to provide additional staffing to support surveillance, prevention, and response efforts within the Overdose Data to Action (OD2A) program. The Foundation is seeking Project Managers to help implement the request-for-application process used by jurisdictions to determine staffing needs, develop strategies to meet those needs quickly through accelerated hiring, and oversee Project Managers and project activities. The Senior Project Manager will report to the Staffing Team Lead, supervise a team, and handle daily project operations.

Overview:
The CDC Foundation is collaborating with CDC and state and local partners to bring in surge staff to support surveillance, prevention, and response initiatives under the Overdose Data to Action (OD2A) program. The Foundation is looking for Project Managers to guide the request-for-application process that jurisdictions use to identify staffing needs; to develop strategic approaches for meeting those needs promptly through streamlined hiring; and to supervise Project Managers and project operations. The Senior Project Manager will report to the Staffing Team Lead, oversee direct reports, and manage daily project functions.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in a relevant field
• Experience equivalent to a public health official, with 5+ years preferred at the national, state, or local level
• Expertise in overdose prevention, surveillance, and response
• Professional experience in public health with increasing responsibility and leadership, preferably in philanthropy, nonprofits, government, or public health leadership
• Experience collaborating with diverse partners and building strategic relationships, with an emphasis on customer service and servant leadership
• Proven ability to work independently and supervise a team
• Ability to manage varied stakeholders, handle multiple tasks at once, and succeed in a complex environment with competing priorities
• Strong decision-making, analytical skills, business judgment, and business acumen
• Experience in program evaluation, including logic model creation
• Ability to travel within the United States as needed
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Domestic travel required

Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with staff to design and improve systems and processes that support consistent, high-quality project management
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with subject matter experts, donors, partners, and other stakeholders to ensure effective program implementation
• Supervise up to 60 field staff across the country
• Serve as the program liaison between internal and external stakeholders
• Oversee major activities such as program development, budgeting, and evaluation of program performance and impact
• Develop program goals, objectives, policies, strategic plans, standards, and priorities aligned with departmental procedures
• Support resource‑mobilization efforts in coordination with internal and external partners
• Prepare and submit narrative and financial reports or updates for donors in collaboration with relevant stakeholders
• Prepare, negotiate, and oversee program contracts and agreements
• Act as the primary contact person when team members are unavailable
• Represent the CDC Foundation in technical, policy, and strategic planning meetings with internal and external partners and assess strategies that support public health goals
• Stay informed about national overdose prevention and response initiatives and developments within the OD2A program
• Assist projects that strengthen public health and public safety partnerships by identifying local partners, gathering qualitative and quantitative data, and sharing project findings

This position supports a fast‑moving public health program, and responsibilities may change as circumstances evolve. Duties listed above may be adjusted or expanded based on written approval from the CDC Foundation to best meet program needs.
