Position Summary Reporting to the Proposal Manager, this role is part of the central proposals and pursuits team responsible for handling the firm’s most significant global RFPs. The team supports all practice and industry groups and plays a key role in the firm’s business development initiatives through proposals and pitching. The selected candidate will work closely with colleagues across the central team and will also assist business development professionals on single-practice proposal opportunities. Job Duties and Responsibilities Supporting senior team members on major, complex RFP efforts. Managing RFP projects and ensuring adherence to established best practices. Contributing to the development of winning strategies and crafting compelling messages that highlight Reed Smith’s strengths. Coordinating input from various stakeholders. Drafting, revising, formatting, and producing proposal documents using standard content tailored to each opportunity, as well as creating original material such as executive summaries. Assisting attorneys in preparing for client presentations. Ensuring all proposal activity is accurately entered into the firm’s CRM. Maintaining proposal content libraries. Preparing proposal-related reports. Responsibilities may evolve over time based on departmental and firm needs. Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in marketing, communications, or a related field. Experience: 2–4 years in a similar professional services role with significant bid or pitch responsibilities. Skills: Experience preparing proposals within a professional services setting. Strong attention to detail, grammar, and proofreading. High level of IT proficiency. Ability to work confidently with senior stakeholders, including partners and senior managers. Self-starter with strong initiative and minimal need for supervision. Experience in a partnership environment with an understanding of client-focused strategies. Ability to learn quickly and understand technical terminology. Strong communication skills and confidence in presenting ideas. Flexible, adaptable, collaborative, resourceful, proactive, and creative. Ability to maintain visibility and engagement within the team. Persistence and willingness to implement new ideas. Working Conditions This is a remote position, but the candidate must live within a two-hour commute of a Reed Smith office for emergencies or special situations. Occasional work outside regular hours and possible in-office requests may occur, making location proximity important. Pay Ranges These ranges represent the expected low and high hourly rates for this role. Actual pay may vary depending on experience and location. Pittsburgh, Houston, Dallas: $35.00–$39.00 per hour Chicago: $37.50–$42.00 per hour This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, hourly position based on annual hours worked.
