As a member of the APD Accounting team, you’ll handle accounting responsibilities for various product lines such as VSC, GAP, credit, and ancillary products. This includes preparing journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations related to APD programs and entities. You’ll assist with research and responses to both internal and external financial inquiries, support the month-end close process, and analyze business trends and results. You’ll also help with audit requests, the production of the Statutory Annual Statement, premium tax accounting, and respond to requests from State Departments of Insurance and Revenue.
This position is titled Analyst II, General Accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
– Prepare and record month-end journal entries for APD programs
– Calculate, reconcile, and record accruals
– Investigate and explain monthly variances
– Complete monthly account reconciliations
– Assist with year-end reporting
– Collaborate with auditors and provide necessary documentation
– Support the preparation of Statutory Financial Reports
– Assist with state filings and reporting to insurance and revenue departments
– Perform other duties as assigned, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards and maintaining audit integrity
Qualifications and Education:
– Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent, with at least 4 years of experience
– Strong team player
– Proficient in computer software, especially Excel
– Preferred experience in insurance/reinsurance and accounting
– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
– Strong analytical abilities
– Familiarity with insurance is a plus
Salary Range: $62,000 – $91,000 annually
Protective’s target salary range for this role is $62,000 to $91,000, depending on factors such as location, skills, and experience. This is part of a comprehensive compensation package that includes performance-based incentives.
