About CEF:
CEF is a global electrical wholesaler, supplying a wide range of electrical products to industry professionals. Established in 1951 in the UK, the company has grown to over 1,000 locations worldwide, including in the US, Canada, Australia, and Europe.
Our IT department plays a key role in delivering value to both the business and our customers through innovative solutions that enhance our service today and prepare us for the future. We understand that technology and data are central to this mission.
Our global IT team leads transformative projects, expands digital capabilities, and modernizes systems to keep us at the forefront of the industry.
To achieve this, we’re looking for talented, creative individuals across all disciplines to help drive our evolution and support our forward-thinking business—this is where you come in.
About the role:
We’re seeking a proactive and technically skilled Senior Business Analyst to join our growing Experience team. This influential role focuses on the Sales domain, where you’ll help lead strategic initiatives aimed at transforming the customer payment experience across both digital and in-branch platforms.
You’ll be joining at a pivotal time—midway through a major program to replace outdated systems with new, essential payment solutions. We need someone who can quickly adapt, manage complexity, and connect stakeholders, business needs, and technical teams.
What you’ll do:
– Take ownership of analysis for a technical payments project, supporting the integration of new payment providers via APIs across digital and branch environments.
– Work closely with cross-functional teams—including Engineering, Architecture, Delivery, QA, and business units—to gather, challenge, and refine requirements.
– Write clear, technology-neutral user stories in Confluence and JIRA for development and QA teams.
– Conduct detailed requirements engineering, from stakeholder interviews to validation, breakdown, and documentation.
– Lead impact assessments and assist with cost-benefit analyses to guide our change initiatives.
– Maintain strong stakeholder relationships across departments such as Finance, Application Support, Business Experts, and senior leadership, ensuring alignment and communication.
– Mentor and support junior Business Analysts within the Experience team.
What we’re looking for:
– Demonstrated experience as a Senior Business Analyst in complex settings, ideally in payments, retail, or wholesale sectors.
– Solid technical knowledge of APIs, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and architecture teams and understand API operations (e.g., POST, PUT, DELETE).
– Proficiency in writing user stories, managing backlogs, and using tools like JIRA and Confluence.
– Expertise in requirements engineering—analyzing, validating, and translating business needs into actionable deliverables.
– Ability to take over a project mid-way and independently drive it forward.
– Experience integrating legacy systems, preferably including Workday Finance or similar ERP systems.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments confidently.
