About the Role
This senior position oversees our NFL news coverage, guiding distinctive reporting and producing standout storytelling on the biggest NFL topics. You will work closely with partners across the editorial team to enhance performance. The ideal candidate is deeply engaged in the nonstop NFL news cycle and thrives in a competitive environment.

Responsibilities
– Lead a team of reporters with a focus on delivering news and standout reporting.
– Develop creative approaches to daily NFL storylines, expanding current coverage, exploring new perspectives, and inspiring thoughtful discussion.
– Collaborate with video and audio teams to create a unified audience experience and broaden the reach of our content.
– Connect national and beat reporting to strengthen overall NFL coverage.
– Contribute to the long-term editorial vision, including pitching and planning stories and identifying opportunities to grow coverage.
– Help ensure a distinctive, compelling, and authentic voice across all digital content.
– Maintain expertise in engagement and subscription metrics.
– Understand what drives story success across different audiences and platforms.
– Manage staffing, editorial resources, and workflows.
– Edit and publish content in WordPress.

Requirements
– More than 8 years of experience in digital sports journalism, including management experience.
– Deep knowledge of the NFL and a strong competitive drive.
– Proven ability to generate story ideas that drive engagement.
– Skilled at collaborating with writers to refine ideas and develop deeper stories.
– Advanced editing skills, including reporting standards, copy editing, story structure, identifying unclear writing, and adhering to style guidelines.
– Ability to add context, preserve a writer’s voice, and ensure fairness.
– Strong mentoring skills for writers and less experienced editors.
– This is a remote role based in the United States or Canada.

The annual base salary range for this position is 120,000 to 130,000 USD. Total compensation may vary based on education, experience, skills, and location and may also include non-cash rewards and benefits. The salary range is subject to change.
