As a SQL Server Database Consultant, you’ll work as part of a team to provide comprehensive support for database and application infrastructure across a variety of clients.

What You’ll Do:

– Design, implement, and manage IT solutions using Microsoft’s Data Platform
– Recommend and apply best practices to improve operational processes
– Configure and maintain SQL Server databases
– Manage backups and disaster recovery plans
– Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues
– Perform daily system checks and respond to alerts
– Deliver technical training to clients and team members
– Participate in on-call rotation
– Communicate project status and plans with clients and colleagues

What We’re Looking For:

We understand you may not meet every requirement, but successful candidates will likely have:

– Experience installing, configuring, and upgrading SQL Server (2008–2022)
– Proficiency in SQL Server administration, including storage management
– Familiarity with third-party SQL Server tools
– Expertise in performance tuning and T-SQL scripting
– Knowledge of SQL Server management tools
– Experience designing and implementing backup/recovery strategies
– Familiarity with replication, log shipping, mirroring, clustering, and Always On Availability Groups
– Experience with SSRS, Power BI, SSIS, and BI tools
– Scripting and coding experience (procedures, functions, etc.)
– Skills in monitoring and maintaining database systems
– SSAS support and data warehouse/ETL experience
– Experience with cloud migrations and environments is a plus
– Understanding of agile and waterfall development methodologies
– Experience working directly with clients
– Basic project management knowledge
– Strong communication skills, including writing and presenting
– Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)
– Ability to lead and design technical project roadmaps
– PowerShell and automation experience are assets
