About the Role
The Athletic is now accepting applications for the Leon H. Carter Internship Program for Summer 2026.
The Reporter Video Student Intern will play an important role in producing and independently editing video content featuring The Athletic’s reporters. The intern will also collaborate across departments, including working with highlight reels and social media videos. Applicants should have strong video editing and visual storytelling skills, along with a passion for the sports The Athletic covers. This is not an on-camera role.
This is a remote internship, though occasional travel to New York City may be required. Interns based in New York City may choose to work from the office.
The position pays $20.00 USD per hour.

Requirements
– Collaborate with video producers and editors to create compelling stories featuring The Athletic’s reporters.
– Adhere to The Athletic’s style and formatting guidelines.
– Train reporters on how to effectively film video using their phones and support them through the production process.
– Edit reporter footage into engaging narratives.
– Work with the Video Design team to produce visually appealing, brand-consistent graphics.
– Partner with the Thumbnails Design team to research and test visuals that boost viewer engagement and click-through rates.
Responsibilities
– Proficient in editing news, vertical, and social videos using Adobe Premiere Pro.
– Strong interest in all sports; prior experience in sports coverage is a plus.
– Background in journalism and familiarity with newsroom operations.
– Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
– Eagerness to learn and contribute in a remote work environment.
– Availability to work evenings and weekends.
