Patient Advocates are part of Ro’s Care Delivery team, supporting both patients and healthcare providers. They are non-clinical team members who work alongside nurses, nurse practitioners, and doctors. Their role includes providing administrative support to providers and offering compassionate, high-touch service to patients. They act as a liaison for non-medical concerns, answer non-clinical questions, and assist patients who need help completing treatment steps. Patient Advocates play a key role in the patient care experience at Ro.

This is a temporary 6-month position, with the possibility of extension or conversion to a full-time role based on business needs.

What You’ll Do:

– Work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment to deliver empathetic, concierge-style support to patients by responding to non-clinical questions and going above and beyond to meet their needs
– Assist providers with administrative tasks in the Care Center (Ro’s medical record system)
– Efficiently triage and manage provider messages
– Contact pharmacies to resolve non-clinical prescription issues
– Provide feedback on workflows, provider responsiveness, quality, and clinical procedures
– Help pilot new initiatives to improve patient retention and streamline operations
– Support prior authorization processes for weight management patients

What You’ll Bring:

– Preferred experience as a Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant
– Bachelor’s degree preferred
– 1–2 years of experience in administrative or customer-facing roles
– Experience with insurance plans is a plus
– Background in fast-paced clinical environments is preferred
– Strong time management and organizational skills
– Familiarity with electronic health records and navigating multiple systems
– Flexibility and adaptability in dynamic environments
– Ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting
– Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
– Self-motivated and proactive
– Experience working remotely or in a startup is a plus
– Excellent written communication skills; creative writing or healthcare communication experience is a bonus
– Strong interpersonal skills
– Availability for some pre-scheduled weekend and evening shifts
– Willingness to work on certain holidays

Current Scheduling Options:

Option 1 – Four 10-hour shifts per week (not available to California residents):
– Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri — 1:00 PM–11:30 PM EST
– Sun–Wed — 1:00 PM–11:30 PM EST
– Wed–Sat — 1:00 PM–11:30 PM EST

Option 2 – Five 8-hour shifts per week:
– Mon–Fri — 3:00 PM–11:30 PM EST

Schedules are assigned based on business needs, though preferences are considered when possible.

The hourly pay for this role is targeted at $28/hour. Final compensation will depend on factors such as location, experience, skills, and job-related knowledge.

Ro supports a flexible work environment across the U.S., while also valuing in-person collaboration. Employees in the New York tri-state area are expected to work from HQ on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Those outside the area will participate in occasional in-person events throughout the year.
