The Forklift Operator will carry out a variety of tasks in a fast-paced, lean warehouse environment. Responsibilities include receiving and storing incoming shipments, picking and shipping products to support plant operations, maintaining accurate inventory records, and monitoring cooler/freezer temperatures. The operator is also responsible for keeping the warehouse clean and organized. Experience with stand-up forklifts and RF scan guns is required.
Shift Schedule: Friday through Sunday
Shift Hours: 4:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Pay Rate: $18 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
– Efficiently sort, load, and unload both palletized and non-palletized freight using manual and powered equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts, or by hand when needed
– Operate a stand-up forklift
– Use handheld mobile devices to track shipments
– Safely enter and exit trailers
– Regularly lift items up to 50 lbs. of various sizes and shapes
– Secure freight in trailers using tools like pallets, straps, and ropes
– Work safely on loading docks that may be cold and slippery
– Perform physical tasks such as reaching, bending, climbing, pushing, pulling, twisting, squatting, and kneeling
– Accurately complete required paperwork and reports
– Follow all company safety protocols
– Work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with frequent interaction with team members and supervisors
– Work safely in cold environments
Required Skills and Qualifications:
– 2 to 4 years of forklift experience
– Experience operating a stand-up forklift
– Must be at least 18 years old
– Fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking)
– Basic math proficiency
Preferred Qualifications:
– High school diploma or GED
Physical Requirements:
– Frequent use of hands and arms to handle tools and equipment
– Regular standing, communication, and listening
– Occasional walking, stooping, kneeling, or crouching
– Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
– Good vision, including peripheral and depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
– Capable of performing repetitive tasks
– Able to work in varying temperatures, including cold and hot environments
